Hurricane Watch Major Hurricane Kenneth churns over the open water of the East Pacific

Kenneth has rapidly weakened from a Category 3 storm yesterday to a Category 1 hurricane overnight. Kenneth will continue to weaken as it interacts with a large upper-level low just north of Hawaii and moves into a more stable air mass. These more hostile environmental conditions will cause Kenneth to weaken to a tropical storm later today and should degenerate into a non-tropical low pressure area by Thursday.

The rest of the East Pacific including the Central Pacific should remain relatively quiet through the rest of this week.
