Hermosa Beach Surf Cam and Report

In California, Hermosa Beach has long been regarded as one of the favorite surfing spots for locals and tourists alike. Hermosa is located in Los Angeles County and is one of the three cities that make up the South Bay region (which include Manhattan Beach to the north and Redondo Beach to the southeast).

Hermosa brings sunbathers, volleyball players, watersports enthusiasts, and cyclists to the area. The beach offers a paved path called The Strand for bicycles, walkers, and skaters and it travels as far north as Santa Monica. Hermosa plays host to many outdoor events during the year, including the International Surf Festival in August and the AVP Hermosa Beach Open, a beach volleyball tournament that attracts professional and semi-pro players from around the world. Other amenities are available for visitors to the beach and the surrounding community, including a skatepark, basketball courts, and a lawn bowling club.

Of course, surfing is what brings thousands of people to Hermosa Beach every year. The surf break sometimes produces smaller waves than other spots in the vicinity, but the open conditions catch swells when others don’t. The best swell directions for the break are from the north or northwest, and wind direction from the east and southeast produce the most favorable conditions. On a rising tide, surfers can expect good waves when swell and wind conditions are right. Waves break either left or right at the Hermosa Beach Pier. Winter appears to be the time of the year when conditions produce the most consistent wave activity.

For up-to-the-minute conditions at Hermosa Beach, Swell Magnet is the leading choice. Our high-definition surf cams stream Hermosa Beach conditions to the Web, giving surfers in Southern California and anywhere in the world a real-time look at what the waves are doing right now. Our HB surf cam is positioned overlooking the Pier. We are operated by experienced surfers and forecasters, and produce live surf reports for this break and for many other locations up and down California’s coastline. Save yourself a trip in the car and check out Swell Magnet’s amazing surf cams and reports before you head out to your favorite surf break.
