SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 2-22-13

Saturday morning will start off on the slow side, but it looks like we should see a stronger, long interval swell build in through the day. Some larger scout sets should start showing up in the afternoon and put the better West facing breaks into the head high to overhead zone by days end.

The conditions a little iffy with variable winds in the 3-6 MPH zone until 11AM and 8-12 MPH out of the West in the afternoon. We’ll see an air temp of 62 degrees.

For Sunday morning it looks like we should see that energy in effect for the morning. This will put the better West facing breaks into the shoulder to head high zone. The tide’s a bit high at 8AM, but will run out quickly through the morning.

The conditions look good for the morning with winds out of the NE/NNE at 3-11 MPH range until 1PM and mild Westerly winds until sundown. We’ll see an air temp of 66 degrees.

On Monday morning things should taper off, but leave top West facing breaks into the chest to shoulder high zone from a steep 310-315 degree angle.

On Tuesday morning the surf will continue to back down into the waist to chest high range, but some fresh 305-310 degree energy should fill in late in the day and be good for shoulder to head high sets for Wednesday morning.

The conditions look fair early, with NNE, 3-9 MPH winds until noon and west winds will get up to 8-12 MPH in the afternoon. It should be another nice day with an air temp of 65 degrees.

The current water temps are as follows – Newport 53 degrees, Huntington 55 degrees, the South Bay showed as 57 degrees, Santa Monica 56 degrees and Malibu 53 degrees.
