Thank goodness April will soon be over and we can put that sh#thole of a surf month in the rear view mirror, (and never look back)!

The Southern Hemisphere has come to life in a big way and it looks like we’ll see near non-stop energy deep into May. We’ll see some unusually long period and powerful swell roar into town Saturday and Sunday with bruising 20-24 second intervals. That is some serious power my friends and with sturdy lines like that the beach breaks will have a tough time holding shape. Think reefs, points, jetties, Wedge! Be advised that the Lower Trestles Oakley Pro will be running for the next 10 days too, so I’m sure San O’ will be a mad house and the Pro surfers will be monopolizing the Lower Trestles Line Up and neighboring breaks.

Anyway, enjoy it. It seems like it’s been forever since we, (me anyway), has scored some solid surf!

For Thursday morning we’ll see continued, steeply angled, NW wind swell in the waist high plus surf for the most exposed West facing breaks in the AM.

The SW swell will back down through the day as well, but continue to deliver inconsistent sets in the waist high plus range from that same angle of 200 degrees.

Saturday morning the aforementioned South swell will kick off the morning with waist to chest to high sets with some larger scout sets making their presence known as the day wears on. The South facing beaches will get the brunt of this energy but due to the power of the swell, (20-24 second intervals), some diffused energy will bleed into many of the Westerly facing beaches as well.

Sunday morning, I hate over-hyping South swells… but this looks like the money day with long interval lines wrapping into the top South facing breaks. Super exposed spots like San O’, the OC and the Points to the North should all be firing with OH to well OH sets. Places like the Wedge could possibly go DOH.

We’ve been starved for waves for quite some time so I”m expecting the froth meter to be off of the charts, with highly aggressive behavior and huge crowds at the top spots. Why does it have to be Sunday?????

2015-05-03 Sun 05:54 AM Moonset

2015-05-03 Sun 08:44 PM Full Moon
2015-05-03 Sun 09:35 PM 5.56 feet High Tide

The conditions will mirror those of Saturday with variable 1-4 MPH winds out of the West until 10AM and 8-14 MPH out of the West in the afternoon. The air temp dips to 67 degrees.
