SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 8-29-13

As a rule of thumb I don’t chase weak ass South swells around when a gallon of gas goes North of 4 bucks, and today was no exception… The SW energy that we had pinned all of our hopes on, came through, but in an extremely feeble fashion.
I headed down to El Porto just looking to get wet, but ended up going on a jog instead. I would liken it to going to the prom thinking there was an okay band playing and all that showed up was an Asthmatic OBO player. Anyways, the 3 week wave drought continues to plague Southern California and it looks like we’re in for at least another week of weakness. The glass half full side of me says, “be patient, it’s the calm before the storm!” I won’t tell you what the glass is half empty side says, but it’s something like this – “#@$% #@$% #@$% #@$%!!!!!!!!!!”

HURRICANE WATCH 8-29-13
Tropical Storm Juliette has weakened to a tropical depression over the cooler waters of the eastern Pacific near the west coast of the Baja Peninsula. The system will then take a more westward turn late Thursday night into Friday away from the Baja and quickly weaken into a remnant low as it continues to move over cooler waters. This should be good for some super steeply angled SE swell in the waist high zone. *It will only be visible at the most extremely angled South facing breaks.

For Friday morning we’ll see continued, small, SW energy in the waist high plus zone. Same swell direction and wave heights as Thursday.
