Wow…20% chance of rain yesterday??? How about 20 straight hours of rain? My weather sources are usually pretty spot on but they definitely dropped the ball yesterday. SO Cal is no in a much needed soggy mess and I’m sure the water quality is heavily compromised. There’s still plenty of surf rolling through and the conditions are clean but the water is dirty.

* Beware of the Urban Runoff – It’s recommended that you stay out of the water for 72-hours following the end of any measurable rain-event. If you do choose to roll the dice be sure to wear ear plugs and shower with piping hot water after your session. Rinse your ears with an alcohol and vinegar solution and don’t be shy about busting out the netti pot or neil med rinse…

For Monday morning we’ll see the hospice portion of that NW energy as it’s wheeled off to experience a slow but comfortable death. The morning hours will be in the waist high zone early but the good news is that some small reinforcement swell will start to show later in the day.

The new energy will come in from that same 285-295 degree angle as it’s predecessor but be a bit smaller with chest high sets for the better West facing breaks. That won’t likely really come into play until Tuesday but you never know…

* Beware of the Urban Runoff-72 hour rule still in effect
