HURRICANE WATCH Tuesday, July 15, 2014 – An area of showers and thunderstorms is located about 1,400 miles to the east-southeast of the Big Island of Hawaii. This disturbance is moving to the west-northwest and could develop into a tropical depression over the next couple of days. Even if it does develop into a tropical system it may be short-lived as it will be moving into an area of increased wind shear later this week.
The remainder of the basin remains quiet, with no development likely for at least the next 48 hours.
By Wednesday morning looks like another hunt and peck situation with not enough swell to really hang your hat on, but there should be some inconsistent, rideable sets out of the SW in the waist high plus range.
