SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 7-25-13
______________________________________________________________________________
HURRICANE WATCH
Tropical Storm Flossie, the sixth named storm of the eastern Pacific hurricane season, has formed just over 1000 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. The storm is moving west-northwest and is no threat to the Mexican Pacific coast.
Over the next day or so, Flossie will gather some strength, thanks to low wind shear and relatively warm sea-surface temperatures.
However, more stable air, increased wind shear, and cooler water is expected to begin weakening of Flossie through this weekend.
While forecast models track Flossie in the general direction of Hawaii early next week, as already mentioned, Flossie is expected to have been weakened by the time it arrives, most likely as a remnant low, depression, or minimal tropical storm.

For Friday morning we’ll see that SW energy, from a 200 degree angle peak, and put the best South facing beaches in the waist to chest high range.
I also noticed that the Santa Barbara channel is projected to blow pretty hard this afternoon so there should be some waist high, locally brewed, short interval wind swell.
