HURRICANE WATCH Sunday, July 8, 2014 Tropical Storm Fausto didn’t strengthen further Monday morning, but is still expected to become a bit stronger over the next 48 hours, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
At 5 a.m. Monday the storm was about 1,265 miles southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, or about 2,200 miles east-southeast of Hilo.
Forecasters said Fausto was moving west at 14 miles per hour. It had maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour with higher gusts.
Wednesday morning looks okay as that South swell continues to weaken. That same 175-185 degree angle will visit the same beaches but be smaller and less consistent. When the sets do roll in the exposed breaks will see some chest high plus sets.

By Friday morning we’ll assume the beggar posture, holding our collective hands out for a crumb of swell. There may still be a few waist high stragglers running up the line, but it looks like you’ll be doing more bobbing than surfing.
