SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 9-12-13
______________________________________________________________________________

HURRICANE WATCH 9-12-13

Satellite imagery shows an expansive, but disorganized area of thunderstorms off the Mexican coast just to the southwest of the Gulf of Tehuantepec. However, given the strong shear across this cluster of thunderstorms and its closeness to land, further development and organization over the next couple of days seems unlikely.

Friday morning looks like the “Money Day” as both the SW and NW swells hit their peak, (the angle and intervals from Thursday will remain the same). The SW energy should be good for chest to shoulder high sets, (maybe even a few bigger ones down in the OC and San O’ areas). The West facing breaks should see sets in the chest high zone.

Could be a bit chaotic out there as everyone has been surf starved for what seems like an eternity!!! Be ready to do battle!!!

By Saturday morning both swells will will already start backing down, but there still should be plenty of fun little waves to be had out there.

The South facing breaks will dip down into the waist to chest high range and the consistency will lessen throughout the day.

The NW will drop off quicker leaving the West facing spots in the waist high range.

For Sunday morning looks even smaller and less consistent as the surf continues to fade out. South swell waist high, NW swell knee to waist high. We’re heading back into lean times again so feast before we head back into famine mode!
