SURF FORECAST UPDATED 1-18-13
Water’s still freezing so dress accordingly, it is in ICECREAM Headache territory so bust out the hoodie if you have one. Long interval swell will be here by Sunday, lets just hope there’s plenty of spots holding a little shape!
For Saturday morning things will start out on the slow side again with continued, knee high plus surf through the prime morning hours, but the good news is that some fresh, long interval, (really long interval, 22-24 seconds), NW swell will start to show mid day and fill in completely for Sunday morning. The Best West facing breaks will see head high plus sets by Sundown from a Westerly 290-300 degree angle.

The conditions look to be excellent in the AM with NE/NNE winds in the 6-12 MPH zone until around noon and 3-6 MPH breezes out of the West until dark. We’ll see an air temp of 73 degrees.
For Sunday morning we should actually see some thumping lines in the head high to a few feet overhead zone for the better West facing breaks. Due to the long intervals, 20+ seconds, and Westerly direction, I doubt that the beach breaks will cough up much shape so you may have to go elbow to elbow at the points and reefs to scratch up some decent waves, (hopefully not, but that seems to be par for the course as of late). The gets pretty low around noon so I’d get on it early!

On Tuesday morning the “open for business” sign will remain perched on the window sill. The exposed breaks will see inconsistent sets in the chest to shoulder high plus zone. High morning tides will undoubtedly have an impact on the early bird, but it will drain out quickly through the morning.
