SURF FORECAST UPDATED 12-18-12
______________________________________________________________________________

Wednesday morning should be pretty good if the winds cooperate. The surf will be moving in out of the NW and put the top West facing breaks into the shoulder to well overhead zone.

Wednesday
2012-12-19 Wed 02:29 AM 4.89 feet High Tide
2012-12-19 Wed 06:46 AM Sunrise
2012-12-19 Wed 08:34 AM 2.13 feet Low Tide
2012-12-19 Wed 11:18 AM Moonrise
2012-12-19 Wed 02:00 PM 4.02 feet High Tide
2012-12-19 Wed 04:46 PM Sunset
2012-12-19 Wed 08:27 PM 0.90 feet Low Tide
2012-12-19 Wed 09:19 PM First Quarter
2012-12-19 Wed 11:54 PM Moonset

The conditions could go either way with variable winds out of the N/NNE in the 5-8 MPH range all day long. The wind models show stiff NW winds blowing through the night, (into Wednesday morning), so even though the winds do switch to offshore in the morning it may be too little too late to smooth out the sea surface. Look for an air temp of 60 degrees.

Thursday morning looks a hair smaller but still have some punch with shoulder to head high surf for the better West facing beaches. Conditions look good and the dropping tide should not present any major issues for the early birds.

Friday morning will be a bit smaller with waist to chest high plus sets for the better West facing breaks.

2012-12-21 Fri 05:21 PM 3.14 feet High Tide
2012-12-21 Fri 10:19 PM 1.87 feet Low Tide

The conditions should be reasonable with variable breezes out of the North in the 3-6 MPH range all day long. We’ll see an air temp of 62 degrees.

Saturday morning looks interesting as some fresh NW energy moves down the line from a super steep 315-320 degree angle. Due to the steep nature of the swell it will completely bypass the majority of beaches in our neck of the woods but should come roaring in to the San Diego/Northern Baja area. This swell will have some power, putting spots like Blacks into the well overhead to double overhead zone. Some spots in South Bay may be able to pull in some swell but it’s far from a slam dunk.

2012-12-22 Sat 06:37 PM 3.24 feet High Tide
2012-12-22 Sat 11:12 PM 2.12 feet Low Tide

The conditions look okay again with variable breezes out of the N/NW at 3-6 MPH all day long. There’s also a 30% chance of rain and we’ll see an air temp of 59 degrees.
______________________________________________________________________________

Sunday morning will see more of the same with continued, brutally steep, NW energy. Top spots will be well overhead, but once again, the steep angle will bypass the majority of So Cal beaches.

Sunday
2012-12-23 Sun 02:48 AM Moonset
2012-12-23 Sun 05:46 AM 5.41 feet High Tide
