This Forecast Updated Tuesday, August 21st 12:00PM – 2012


I am high in the Sierras camping and the internet card I had counted on to update things has all the oomph of an Al Gore prototype, dial up modem. Just getting this far was a monumental task so I am just going to tap out until Sunday night. Sorry guys, technology is not working at the speed of light right now.

I did take a look at the outlook and I’m sad to report that my forecast is still on the money. Nothing of note heading our way in the forseeable future… sorry!


HURRICANE WATCH: Tuesday, August 21st 12:00PM- All quiet out there today.


Wednesday morning looks like another pretty meager day for most spots. There is some SUPER STEEP, 165-170 degree angle swell moving in and only select South facing breaks will even get a sniff. The premiere breaks will see waist high plus waves with a few bigger sets.

Thursday morning will be another feeble for the majority of beaches but top spots will see waist high plus surf with an ocassional larger set.

The conditions will be decent again with light winds out of the SSE in the 1-3 MPH zone until 10AM and afternoon onshores up into the 8-11 MPH range. Look for a high air temp of 73 degrees.


Friday morning will see no marked improvement with knee to waist high sets for the most exposed South facing breaks.

Saturday morning looks extremely weak with knee high plus background swell.

Sunday morning looks no better. Unless Chevron is driving it’s tankers parallel to the coast we won’t see much more the knee high surf.

The current water temps are as follows – Newport 69 degrees, Huntington 67 degrees, the South Bay showed as 71 degrees, Santa Monica 67 degrees and Malibu 66 degrees.
