SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 2-26-13
______________________________________________________________________________

Here’s a pretty bad ass video of some heaving South Bay barrels in the month of February! – Check out the video courtesy of Civic Couch!

Tick tock, tick tock… our Winter swell season is winding down quickly as we burn through the last few days of February. It seems like Mother Nature has been trying to make up for an agonizingly poor Winter by dishing up some good waves this month. Nice try Ma, but you know you f#$ked us pretty bad this year. Lets hope that the early arrival of South swells this week is indicative of a long, strong Spring and Summer! No time off for you this year!
______________________________________________________________________________

By Wednesday morning we should have some surf as a stronger, long interval swell hits stride for the morning session. We’ll see a combo of steeply angled, 305-310 degree with 16-18 second intervals and med interval NW wind swell. The top West facing breaks should see chest high sets with a few larger sneakers.

We’ll also see our first blip of SW energy enter stage left. This will start off with waist high plus sets, from a 190-200 degree angle, and get a bit more size for Thursday and Friday.

The conditions look good early as a high pressure system moves in and sets up camp for the next few days. We’ll see NE/NNE winds in the 5-9 MPH zone until 1PM, (stronger below passes and canyons), and mild West winds in the afternoon. We’ll see nice warm up with an air temp of 71 degrees.

For Thursday morning it looks like we will see that NW energy taper off into the waist high zone for the better West facing beaches. The SW swell I mentioned above should dish up waist to chest high sets for the better South facing spots.
