SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 2-8-13

By Saturday morning the conditions should/could clean up for the morning session. The surf will dip in size but we should see chest to head high waves through the morning. The tide hits a whopping 6.45 feet at 8:07 which will definitely figure into the equation.

The conditions should clear up, at least a little bit, for the morning session with variable winds in the 2-6 MPH range until around 11AM and 6-8 MPH West winds into the afternoon. We’ll see a high air temp of 57 degrees.

On Sunday morning there will be another drop off in size but the exposed West facing breaks should continue to dish up waist to chest high sets for the morning. A new, 16-18 second, long interval swell will fill in through the day and be good for some small, but powerful, chest high sets later in the day.

By Monday morning the best West facing breaks should see that new swell dishing up chest to head high sets. There will be a nice little tide push for the dawn patrol and the conditions look good.

For Tuesday morning that ground swell will hang in there and be good for chest to shoulder high sets early and then taper off throughout the day. Once again there’s a nice little tide push for the early birds.

The current water temps are as follows – Newport 56 degrees, Huntington 56 degrees, the South Bay showed as 56 degrees, Santa Monica 57 degrees and Malibu 55 degrees.
