SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 6-7-13
Well, by most accounts the swell had tons of punch, but wasn’t cooperating as far as good shape is concerned. For me personally, I just stayed home at El Porto and ended up taking a Pasquales type beating on a few thunderous dredgers. Made a couple gnarly ones, but ended up doing more cartwheels, (down the face), than Mary Lou Retton in her prime. This swell has a little swagger to it and definitely got the best of me today. Hopefully things clean up a bit for Saturday and Sunday. The conditions should improve so go get ’em. Good luck out there!
For Friday morning the SW energy will hold and continue to dish up some bruising, well overhead sets for the top spots. This is a deepwater swell and will have plenty of muscle to it, so watch out for larger than normal sneaker sets and some heavy rips. The points and reefs will undoubtedly handle the energy best. Many of the beach breaks will likely be walled and tough to make!

The conditions look okay with onshore breezes in the 2-4 MPH range until 10AM and 10-13 MPH out of the SW until sundown. The air temp will get up to 68 degrees.
On Saturday morning things will start to slowly back down but there will be no shortage of swell out there. Top spots will go head high to overhead, from that same 190-200 degree angle, but the periods will lessen and the consistency and power will drop off.
We should also see some small, steeply angled 8-10 second interval wind swell mix in. This can only help out the shape at the beach breaks.
