SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 4-18-14
______________________________________________________________________________
State of the Union: Just thought I’d let you guys know what’s going on with the website. So far we have added Hi Def Cams at El Porto, the Easton El Porto (overview), Malibu and (Sunset which will be online by the end of next week). We got what we thought was great deal on some nice high end cams, tested them out, (they worked for the first week), and as soon as we put them up at Venice Pier and Venice Breakwater they took a sh#t on us. I had 6 new ones in the box ready to go so it was a major setback for us!!!
Sooooo, we are returning those cams and have a new High end Sony being shipped out, and if that one proves to be solid, we will systematically replace all the analog cams with High definition ones! Be patient please, this has proven to be no easy task, and myself and my Team are working tirelessly to get things done. Thanks for your continued support!

For Saturday morning we’ll be left with waist high plus wind swell for the top West facing beaches. The angle will remain a steep 310 degrees with 9-11 second intervals.
We are also in line for some fresh, steeply angled SW energy. This swell will start to show later in the day with 16-18 second intervals from 185-190 degrees. The top South facing spots should see some chest high sets by days end.

The conditions look okay with variable breezes out of the West, in the 2-4 MPH zone until 10AM and those will get up to 10-12 MPH in the afternoon. The air temp tops out at 68 degrees.

Sunday morning – EASTER- should be a little better with that fresh, long interval, S/SW ground swell from a 185-190 degree angle coming into play. The most exposed South facing spots should see chest high plus sets!
We’ll also see a smaller combination of medium interval NW energy and NW wind swell. The best West facing breaks should be good for waist high plus peaks.
A minus tide at 8:23AM may slow down most spots through the morning hours but we should see improvement on the mid morning early afternoon.

The conditions look fair for spots that can handle Southerly winds. On paper we’re looking at breezes out of the SE/SSE, in the 2-5 MPH zone until 10AM and those will get up to 10-12 MPH in the afternoon. The air temp climbs up to 71 degrees.

For Monday morning we’re looking at a slowly fading SW swell. Same angle, slightly shorter intervals, and less consistent, but it should still be good for chest high sets at the better South facing breaks.
We’re also due a new blast of late season, long interval, NW energy. This swell will start tracking in later in the afternoon with 14-16 second intervals, from an extremely steep 310 degree angle. The majority of the surf will scoot on by most of So Cal, but make a direct hit in SD and Northern Baja.

The conditions look decent with E/SE breezes in the 1-3 MPH zone until 11AM and those will get up to 8-10 MPH in the afternoon. The air temp remains 71 degrees.

Tuesday morning could be good if the winds don’t muck things up.
That steep NW energy will generate chest to maybe shoulder high sets at the most exposed West facing breaks. Like I said earlier most spots will get stymied due to the steep nature of the angle!
Another steep SW will start to pulse in through the afternoon, from that same 185+ degree angle. The intervals will be 16-18 seconds and should dish up chest high plus sets for the top spots in the OC and San O’ regions.
I’m liking the fact that the Southern Hemisphere is already showing signs of life. It might be a good summer! Lord knows we deserve it!
