HURRICANE WATCH: *Tons of potntial cyclonic activity out there but it’s all spinning out to the West toward Hawaii!

Tropical Storm Ignacio is in the East Pacific located about 1,425 miles to the east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii. The system is slowly tracking west and should continue to do so for the next several days. Ignacio will continue to move through an environment conducive for development over the next several days and could become a hurricane soon.

Tropical Storm Jimena is located at 12.4 N, -117.7 W with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph, gusting to 60 mph is 800 miles southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico. This feature is expected be in an area conducive for tropical development over the next several days and it will likely become a tropical depression later this week.

By Friday that SW energy should peak with waist to chest high sets at most South facing breaks and larger sets at the most exposed beaches.

Small, inconsistent NW energy will remain in the mix but but won’t be much bigger than waist high + for the best West facing breaks.

The conditions look to be okay with variable breezes out of the East in the 1-3 MPH zone until 10AM and 9-11 MPH out of the West in the afternoon. The air temp tops out at 84 degrees.

For Saturday the SW energy should hold with continued SW swell in the waist to chest high zone with the OC and San O’ areas seeing some larger sets roll in.

Minor NW swell will remain in the mix.

Sunday looks a bit smaller as the SW energy peters out through the day. The morning should be good for inconsistent, waist to maybe chest high sets at the top South facing breaks. The swell will continue to die through the day.

The conditions look pretty good early with variable breezes in the 1-2 MPH zone until 10AM and 9-14 MPH out of the West in the afternoon. The air temp dips a hair to 78 degrees.

By Monday that SW energy will be on its way to the hospice with very inconsistent sets in the waist high range.

If things play out right we should also see some fresh NW wind swell in the waist high plus range for the better West facing breaks.

By Tuesday may be okay too with a combination of waist high plus SW energy and waist to maybe chest high NW wind swell.

The current water temps Newport 73 degrees, Huntington 72 degrees, the South Bay showed as 74 degrees, Santa Monica 73 degrees and Malibu 70 degrees.
