HURRICANE WATCH: *Tons of potential cyclonic activity out there but it’s all spinning out to the West toward Hawaii!
Hurricane Ignacio is in the Pacific located over 800 miles to the east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii. The system is tracking west-northwestward and should continue to do so for the next several days. Ignacio will continue to move through an environment conducive for development over the next couple of days and could become a major hurricane heading this weekend. It could eventually come near the Hawaiian Islands next week, but it expected to weaken, probably to a tropical storm, before it nears Hawaii.
Jimena is a hurricane, the eighth hurricane of the season in the eastern Pacific, and is strengthening rapidly. It is currently over 1,000 miles southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. Jimena has the potential to become a major hurricane due to a favorable environment for strengthening over the next day or two.
For Saturday the SW energy should hold with continued SW swell in the waist to chest high zone with the OC and San O’ areas seeing some larger sets roll in.
Minor NW swell will remain in the mix.
* Nice tide push through the early morning!
