HURRICANE WATCH: Guillermo is pretty much history except for some lingering surf in Hawaii.
Hilda has strengthened into a hurricane as it continues on a westward course over the open waters of the Pacific, well over a thousand miles east of Hawaii. Hilda will continue to intensify as it tracks off to the west-northwest with warm waters in its path. Hilda doesn’t look to send any surf to So Cal but the storm will be monitored for possible impacts to Hawaii if it were to move on a more west-northwest course next week.
Wow… this is really starting to get old! The crystal ball shows no legitimate surf well into the future. The Southern Hemisphere has been extremely stingy this summer, and it when it coughs up a little swell there seems to be something defective that comes along with it, (shi#$y shape, wrong angle, onshore winds, just enough wind swell to muck up the sea surface). The wind swell has been a joke and the Hurricane season hasn’t lived up to expectations yet either. I’ve already used up my allotted amount of surf trips for 2015 but may have to plead insanity to my wife and break out for a quick 4 day pop somewhere… I am just about to snap!
For Saturday morning we’ll head back into the knee to waist high zone.
