Longtime Swellmagnet photographer, Jeff Bell, felt so sorry for me recycling photos he dusted of his hard drive and sent me some good ones… enjoy.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 8-9-13
______________________________________________________________________________

HURRICANE WATCH 8-9-13

Tropical Storm Henriette continues to weaken as it tracks west-southwest across the open waters of the Pacific into progressively cooler ocean waters and higher wind shear. A weak, mid-level ridge to the north of the storm will keep Henriette’s track south of the Hawaiian Islands. What is left of the storm will pass 300-400 miles south of the state Sunday.

The storm is generating Rough surf that will move into the Aloha State by this weekend, but So Cal won’t see any action!

Pitiful… I actually had pinned my hopes on this weak ass SW swell to get a few crumbs of surf to get me through these hard times. NO DICE. I’m scouring my medicine cabinets for that Prozac my friend gave me. It looks like we’re heading into an extremely wave starved period over the next week or so, so look to the sky and pray for surf!

Saturday morning the SW ground swell should dish up more waist high plus sets and hopefully some bonus waist high Tropical energy from Henriette.

The SB Cannel is blowing gusts to 25+ MPH right now so hopefully we get some bonus waist high wind swell.

I’m just trying to stay optimistic…

Monday morning is looking pretty bleak with no swell of relevance. Other than a fast moving, fully loaded Chevron Tanker driving back and forth in front of El Porto, or an unforeseen act of God, we’re looking at knee high dribblers.

Tuesday morning looks no better as our surf slump turns into an aquatic version of “Groundhog Day” in which each 24 hour span mirrors the next. I got you babe… Knee high… get used to it for awhile, but please don’t shoot the messenger.
