SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 2-23-14

Monday morning looks pretty feeble with small, long interval, (14-16 seconds), surf limping in from the NW, (from a 300 degree angle), and putting the most exposed West facing breaks in the waist high plus zone.

The conditions look fair early with variable breezes out of the East 1-3 MPH until noon and 6-9 MPH out of the West in the afternoon. The air temp tops out at 65 degrees.

Tuesday morning looks pretty small again with continued, tiny, 14-16 second interval swell for the best West facing breaks. That will result in inconsistent waist high plus sets. Looks like a real snoozer!

The conditions look okay with variable breezes out of the East in the 1-2 MPH range until 10AM and 8-10 winds out of the West in the afternoon. The air temp tops out at 66 degrees.

By Wednesday morning we’ll start to see a series of NW swells start to roll in. Things will start off on the slow side early with waist high plus sets at first light, but the new energy will pulse in throughout the day with 12-14 second intervals from a Westerly 280-290 degree angle.

The conditions look a little iffy but should be okay for spots that can handle a SE wind. The models are calling for light E/SE winds in the 2-6 MPH range until 11AM and 5-10 MPH in the afternoon. There is a 20% chance of rain and the air temp tops out at 65 degrees.

By Thursday morning that same swell should be in full swing with shoulder to head high plus sets for the best West facing breaks. The angle will continue to have quite a bit of West in it with a 280-290 degree angle.

The current water temps Newport 60 degrees, Huntington 62 degrees, the South Bay showed as 60 degrees, Santa Monica 61 degrees and Malibu 58 degrees.
