Saturday morning isn’t looking too promising with around the clock onshore winds and a wind swell that ended up being a little steeper than it looked on paper. To rub a little more salt water in the wound there’s a 4.97 foot high tide looming just before first light. This is what the cams are for, I’d take a look when you wake up, but personally, I have no intentions of setting an alarm.

2015-02-28 Sat 07:30 PM 3.81 feet High Tide

The conditionslook iffy with double digit onshore winds out of the West right out of the gate and those will get up to near the 20 MPH mark at the breeziest spots. The air temp tops out at 62 degrees and there’s a 50% chance of rain.

On Sunday morning that wind swell will hold with chest to shoulder high surf at the exposed West facing breaks. With all that wind the water temp will likely dip and it will take some time for Mother Nature to iron out those wind bumps overnight. Keep your expectations low and hopefully you’ll be pleasantly surprised by some cleaner than anticipate ocean surface conditions.

The conditions could go either way but the models today are calling for variable winds out of the East in the 6-12 MPH zone until 2PM, and mild SW breezes in the afternoon. The air temp tops out at 60 degrees and there’s a 40% chance of rain.

For Tuesday morning we’re looking for continued smaller surf as that wind swell fades and leaves us with knee to waist high surf at the better West facing breaks.

The good news is that our first semi-legit South swell is on the way and some scout sets should start to show later in the day. This one will be rolling in at a 190-200 degree angle with 16-18 second intervals. This should be good for some chest high plus with a little kick to them for Wednesday morning.

Hopefully this is the kick off to a long and prosperous South Swell season.
