For Friday morning we’ll see that new, powerful NW swell really start to hit stride and along with it some bonus energy to really make things interesting. The additional swell will move down the line from a 290-295 degree angle and the combination of swell should put the top West facing breaks into the OH to DOH zone.
Rain is pretty much a foregone conclusion and strong, gusty winds will blow throughout the day.
*Beware of the Urban Runoff – It is advised to stay out of the water for 72 hours following any measurable rain fall. It’s always a roll of the dice, especially after a major downpour. The threat of getting sick is very real, so if you do insist on taking the plunge be sure to use ear plugs and upon exiting the ocean rinse off in hot water, use some alcohol based ear drops and a nasal netti pot rinse for good measure never hurt anybody.

The winds look to start off with N/NNE breezes at 6-10 MPH until 10AM and then whip up into the 15-25 MPH range for the rest of the day, (and those continue right into Saturday). There’s a 100% chance of rain and the air temp tops out at 57 degrees.

For Saturday morning it looks like we will see the biggest swell of the 2017, (so far), with OH to DOH, to even TOH sets at the top West facing breaks. Some wave models have the biggest surf going 20 foot + in the face. There may be some sheltered places to hide from the ferocity of the mixed swell and winds but from what I can tell it will be UGLY out there. Wind, rain, a confused ocean and dangerous conditions.
Hopefully Mother Nature unleashes all her fury, with bone jarring surf, and restores our sandbars to what they were in November. Anyway, if you’re out tackling the jumbo waves be very careful! There are several swells in the water and there will be no rhyme or reason as to when or where the Grim Reaper sets appear out of the shadows! (insert evil laugh sound track).

The conditions look horrific with gusty onshore winds in the 12-25 MPH zone all day long. There’s a 60% chance of rain and the air temp tops out at 59 degrees.

For Sunday morning that energy will taper off a hair, but the best West facing breaks will continue to produce meaty, OH to DOH + sets through the morning and slowly back down through the day. The sea surface should/could clean up a bit but the urban runoff will remain an issue.
