SHARK WEEK LIVE AT EL PORTO

7-11-13 I spotted yet another potential juvenile Great White Shark in the line up, that taped out at an estimated 4 feet. Over the last 8 days I’ve seen 2 additional sharks I estimated to be 6 feet based on the length from their dorsal to their tail. There is no reason to fear these little guys, they are only interested in snacking on baitfish, (which has been plentiful out front lately). If you do see a bigger shark, in the 10-12 foot range get the f#$k out of the water ASAP. At this size they are feeding on seals and seal lions and although the don’t favor people meat, they can always make a mistake. Have fun out there!

For Monday morning we’ll see the remnants of that SW energy from a 200 degree angle. The better South facing breaks will see inconsistent waist to chest high sets. This swell will continue to fade through the day leaving us with very little to ride.

For Thursday morning things will start off on the slow side with more of the same weak ass background swell. The good news is that some fresh, 3 foot, deepwater, long interval swell will weave it’s way later in the day. This one should have some pop to it with 18 second intervals and a fairly liberal 200 degree angle. By Friday morning the most exposed South facing spots should go shoulder to head high plus. I’ll continue to track this through the week and update accordingly.
