SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 7-18-13
______________________________________________________________________________

HURRICANE WATCH

We have no tropical activity at this time.
______________________________________________________________________________

For Thursday morning things will start off on the slow side with the West facing breaks seeing some small scale wind swell and the South facing beaches hoping to see some scout sets from the impending SW swell.

The good news is that some fresh, 3 foot, deepwater, long interval swell will weave it’s way later in the day. This one should have some pop to it with 18 second intervals and a fairly liberal 200 degree angle. By Friday morning the most exposed South facing spots should go shoulder to head high plus.

Friday morning looks is looking pretty good as that long interval energy should be in full swing. The top spots in the OC and San O’ areas could see some overhead sets. This swell should work good at all the points and reefs to the North as well. The tides look excellent for the morning so get out there and have some fun.

We’ll also see some waist high plus, short interval, NW wind swell from a steep 310 degree angle. Hopefully this will be enough energy to break up the long ground swell lines for the beach breaks.

Saturday morning looks great as well as that SW swell holds and continues to dish up shoulder to head high plus sets.

That short interval, NW wind swell from a steep 310 degree angle will see a slight increase for some waist to maybe chest high peaks for the better West facing beaches.

Once again, the tides and winds should be fairly cooperative.
