Hurricane Watch Fernanda continues to weaken as it encounters much cooler water. Fernanda remains a tropical storm with winds around 60 mph. Fernanda will continue on a west-northwest track over the next few days, not impacting any landmasses. Fernanda likely won’t impact the Hawaiian Islands directly, but it will still pose the risk of higher surf and potential rip currents, especially for the Big Island.
Elsewhere across the East Pacific Basin, Tropical Storm Greg is located south-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. Greg is over warm ocean waters, but it will continue to struggle against moderate wind shear, keeping the system from much, if any, strengthening.

For Friday morning we will dip into the waist high + zone with small, sporadic sets out of the SW courtesy of what was Hurricane Fernanda, a dying SW swell and some steeply angled NW wind swell.
There’s a nice little tide push for the super dawn patrol and it should be another gorgeous day.
