SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 7-5-13
Tropical Storm Erick, the fifth named storm of the season, has formed in the eastern Pacific.
Erick was centered 140 miles south of Acapulco. It was moving toward the northwest near 12 mph and had maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.
Following the forecast track, the center of Erick is expected to move parallel to the southwestern Mexico coast but remain offshore.
Meanwhile, former Hurricane Dalila weakened to a tropical depression in the eastern Pacific late Thursday so we’ll see little to no swell out of that dud.
Saturday morning looks a little better as some fresh, SW energy, from a 195 degree angle fills in throughout the day. The top South facing breaks should go chest high on the sets by days end.
That steep NW wind swell should also remain in the mix with waist high plus peaks for the better West facing beaches.
