SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 7-9-13
Hurricane Erick pretty much fizzled out near the tip of Baja and won’t send any swell our way.
Wednesday morning will be smaller for all but the most extreme South facing breaks. The OC and San O’ areas should see waist to chest high plus sets, but most of the coast will see very little energy.
Some fresh, steeply angled, South swell, that originated down in South America, will start pushing some 18-20 second interval energy into So Cal late in the day. The angle on this one is a sideways 170 degrees, which translates into the surf only getting into the most exposed South facing breaks. That should be in play by Thursday morning!

The conditions look okay with variable breezes in the 2-5 MPH zone until 10AM and increase up to 12 MPH in the afternoon. The air temp will top out at 76 degrees.
Thursday morning should see some freshly squeezed juice, with chest to head high plus sets for top spots in the OC and San O’ areas. That energy will be coming up the line from a steep 170 degrees, with 18 second intervals and a 3 foot, deepwater swell. Be advised that the meat of the swell will only visit the most exposed South facing breaks.

The conditions look fair again, with light breezes out of the SE/SSE in the 3-7 MPH zone until 10AM and increase up to 10-13 MPH in the afternoon. The air temp will top out at 74 degrees.
For Friday morning that SE swell will continue to dish up some powerful, 16 second interval sets for the top spots. It will basically be a repeat of Thursday, but you’ll have to find a break that’s receptive to that 170 degree angle.
