SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 7-10-13
______________________________________________________________________________

HURRICANE WATCH

We have no tropical activity at this time.
______________________________________________________________________________

By late Thursday morning should see some freshly squeezed juice, with chest to head high plus sets for top spots in the OC and San O’ areas. That energy will be coming up the line from a steep 170 degrees, with 18 second intervals and a 3 foot, deepwater swell. Be advised that the meat of the swell will only visit the most exposed South facing breaks.

The conditions look fair again, with light breezes out of the SE/SSE in the 3-7 MPH zone until 10AM and increase up to 10-13 MPH in the afternoon. The air temp will top out at 74 degrees.
______________________________________________________________________________

For Friday morning that SE swell will continue to dish up some powerful, 16 second interval sets for the top spots. It will basically be a repeat of Thursday, but you’ll have to find a break that’s receptive to that 170 degree angle.

Saturday morning should still have a little meat left on the bone with continued energy out of the South in the chest high zone. Same angle just a case of a slow dying swell. Smaller sets and longer waits in between.

The good news is that we should also see some smaller, but more liberally angled SW swell, (200 degrees), enter the picture. That will add to the dying SOuth swell and get into many more breaks than it’s predecessor. Sets should go at least waist to chest high.

The conditions look tolerable again with Westerly, onshore winds in the 1-3 MPH zone until 10 and back up to 13 MPH in the afternoon. The air temp will top out at 73 degrees.
______________________________________________________________________________

By Sunday morning we’ll see the tail end of the Southerly energy with inconsistent, waist high sets for the best spots.

The SW energy should hold tight with chest high sets at any beach with a reasonable look at the South.
