HURRICANE WATCH: Blanca continues to weaken as the system churns toward Baja California Sur and is now a Category 1 hurricane. The weakening trend will continue as the system tracks into an area of increasingly cool ocean waters. Blanca is expected to make landfall well northwest of Baja California and rapidly weaken thereafter.

Elsewhere across the East Pacific, an area of low pressure may form this weekend a few hundred miles south of the coasts of El Salvador and Guatemala. This could develop into a tropical system early next week and it could potentially affect Central America or far southern Mexico.

* Getting swell from Blanca remains iffy at best with the storm not bending out to the West as we had hoped for.

Monday morning will start off small with waist high, leftover swell through the morning and into the early afternoon. The better news is that we’ll see a nice pulse of SW ground swell with 16+ second intervals start to fill in from a 190 degree angle. This one won’t get into every beach but the ones with SW exposure should see some chest to head high sets before dark.

*Hurricane Blanca swell still pending…

Tuesday morning SW energy will peak and put the better spots into the shoulder to head high zone on the best sets. The Points and Reefs to the North end of the Bay seem to like this angle so find a kelp laden break and het ready to get a few good ones!
