HURRICANE WATCH: Tropical Storm Blanca has made landfall near Puerto Cortes, Mexico, in Baja California Sur. This is the earliest in the year on record that a tropical cyclone has made landfall in the Baja California Peninsula.
The storm will continue to weaken as it moves northward, even if the center goes back over water briefly today. While the winds will diminish, heavy rain will continue into Tuesday, shifting northward as the storm moves along.
Monday morning will start off small with waist high, leftover swell through the morning and into the early afternoon. The better news is that we’ll see a nice pulse of SW ground swell with 16+ second intervals start to fill in from a 195 degree angle. This one won’t get into every beach but the ones with SW exposure should see some chest to head high sets before dark.
