Friday morning will start off slow everywhere, but the most exposed South facing breaks like Huntington, Newport and select spots in the San O’ area will start to see some 170-175 degree angle energy start to pulse in late in the day. Top spots will go waist high plus, with larger sets due on Saturday.

The conditions look okay early, (for spots that can handle a South wind), with variable breezes out of the SE/SSE 2-6 MPH zone until 10AM and those will get up to 10-12 MPH out of the West in the afternoon. The air temp gets up to 69 degrees.

For Saturday morning we will see waist to chest high sets out of the South for only the most exposed South facing beaches. The angle of the swell will remain severe, coming up the line at a sideways, 175 degrees.

Looks like we’re in for some steeply angled, 300-310 degree, NW wind swell too. From what I can tell that should be good for at least chest to shoulder high plus sets if things go well.

The conditions look iffy, with variable breezes in the 1-6MPH zone until 10AM and those will get up to 10-13 MPH out of the West in the afternoon. The air temp climbs to 71 degrees.

For Sunday morning, MOTHER’s DAY, we will see continued sets out of the South from 2 steeply angled South swells. One swell will be rolling in at 170+ while the other comes up the line from a slightly less extreme 180 degrees. Both are serving up long interval energy, but due to the severity of the angles, will bypass all but the most exposed South facing breaks. Look for standouts to go chest to shoulder high.

The 300-310 degree wind swell will remain in play with chest to shoulder high energy for the better West facing beaches.

Sunday
2014-05-11 Sun 02:10 AM 0.60 feet Low Tide
2014-05-11 Sun 03:53 AM Moonset
2014-05-11 Sun 05:55 AM Sunrise

2014-05-11 Sun 07:45 PM Sunset
2014-05-11 Sun 08:03 PM 5.36 feet High Tide

The conditions should be good as high pressure moves in and promotes offshore conditions. We’ll see 4-12 MPH breezes out of the NE, (stronger below passes and canyons), until early afternoon and those will get up to 10-12 MPH out of the West in the afternoon. The air temp ramps up to a toasty 78 degrees.
