HURRICANE WATCH 11-12-13

There are a few clusters of showers and thunderstorms in the eastern Pacific basin. However, wind shear will prevent tropical development over the next several days.

Wednesday morning looks bleak with knee to waist high surf for the top West facing breaks. Should be gorgeous beach day.

For Thursday morning we’ll fair no better with feeble knee to waist high background swell, but should see some NW wind swell start to creep in later in the day. An early high tide will make it tough for any spot to really even break with the lack of energy in the water.

The conditions look excellent with stiff, NE winds in the 9-13 MPH zone all day long and stronger below the passes and canyons. The air temp will top out at a balmy 81 degrees.

For Friday morning we’ll see some fresh short interval swell, (8-10 seconds), out of the NW from a steep 310 degree angle. This will put the exposed West facing beaches into the waist to possibly chest high zone.

A monster high tide of 6.20 feet at 7:12 AM will bring most spots to a crawl but the tide will race out through the day culminating in a minus tide at 2:06 PM.

On Saturday morning we’ll see a combination of NW energy with the wind swell being the dominant energy, unfortunately the surf will come at the expense of decent conditions. The best West facing breaks will be in the shoulder to head high range and we’ll see another giant high tide of 6.27 feet at 7:43AM. The wind will whip up out of the West and according to the wind models we’re in for some moderately sloppy conditions.
