HURRICANE WATCH 11-13-13

The East Pacific remains relatively quiet. We are seeing more and more cloud clusters showing up off the southwest coast of Mexico in an area of weak shear and lower-than-normal surface pressure. This might be an area to watch for late-season development. If a feature were to form southwest of Mexico later next week, it would probably end up drifting northeast and move inland over Mexico.

For Thursday morning we’ll fair no better with feeble knee to waist high background swell, but should see some NW wind swell start to creep in later in the day. An early high tide will make it tough for any spot to really even break with the lack of energy in the water.

Thursday
2013-11-14 Thu 12:18 AM 1.15 feet Low Tide
2013-11-14 Thu 03:33 AM Moonset
2013-11-14 Thu 06:25 AM Sunrise

2013-11-14 Thu 04:50 PM Sunset
2013-11-14 Thu 07:34 PM 4.32 feet High Tide

The conditions look excellent with stiff, NE winds in the 9-13 MPH zone all day long and stronger below the passes and canyons. The air temp will top out at a balmy 81 degrees.

For Friday morning we’ll see some fresh short interval swell, (8-10 seconds), out of the NW from a steep 310 degree angle. This will put the exposed West facing beaches into the waist to possibly chest high zone.

A monster high tide of 6.20 feet at 7:12 AM will bring most spots to a crawl but the tide will race out through the day culminating in a minus tide at 2:06 PM.

The conditions look great with offshore winds, out of the NE, in the 4-10 MPH until 2PM and mild West winds in the afternoon. The air temp will top out at 74 degrees.

On Saturday morning we’ll see a combination of NW energy with the wind swell being the dominant energy, unfortunately the surf will come at the expense of decent conditions. The best West facing breaks will be in the chest high range and we’ll see another giant high tide of 6.27 feet at 7:43AM. The wind will whip up out of the West and according to the wind models we’re in for some moderately sloppy conditions.

2013-11-16 Sat 04:49 PM Sunset
2013-11-16 Sat 09:02 PM 4.16 feet High Tide

The conditions look to be compromised with West winds in the 6-15 MPH zone early and those will jump up to 18-25 MPH in the afternoon. The air temp will plummet to a chilly 64 degrees.

For Sunday morning we’ll see continued NW energy in the chest to shoulder high range but according to todays wind models the conditions remain questionable.

2013-11-17 Sun 05:09 PM Moonrise
2013-11-17 Sun 09:43 PM 4.03 feet High Tide

The conditions look sketchy with onshore winds blowing all night, then going N/NE for a couple hours early in the AM, then go Westerly at 4-10 MPH for the remainder of the afternoon. The air temp clock in at 63 degrees.
