HURRICANE WATCH: Tropical Storm Sandra, having formed early Tuesday morning, is located over 500 miles south-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico. The storm is moving away from land at this time.

Further strengthening is expected over the next couple of days as Sandra moves over warm water and it will likely reach hurricane status Wednesday.

Eventually, this system will turn northward then northeastward, taking a track into the southern portion of Baja California or western Mexico as a weakening tropical storm or depression Friday night or Saturday. If it follows this track, some moisture may make it into the southern Plains of the United States, helping to fuel heavier rain late this weekend.

This one is poised to actually deliver a little swell so stay tuned!

For Wednesday morning we will see all day onshore winds and sloppy wind swell walking hand in hand with breezy culprit. Probably worth a look if you like to bust airs in wind slop, but as Austin Powers would say, “That’s not my bag baby!”

The surf should build in and get up to shoulder high plus for the better West facing beaches.

Sunday morning looks a bit better with q slightly larger NW swell putting the best West facing beaches in the chest high plus zone on the sets.

There’s also a chance that the most exposed South facing beaches will get a dose of Hurricane Sandra swell. This one is still pending, but if she stays the current course, spots in the OC and San O’ area could see sets in the chest to Head high zone. Nothing’s etched in stone yet so stay tuned.

* The tides look a bit more reasonable for the AM!
