HURRICANE WATCH: It doesn’t look like Sandra will pay any real dividends for us as the angle remained a cartoonishly steep 155 to 160 degrees. Basically sideways up the coast and all but the most exposed breaks won’t even get a sniff of this energy.

Sandra will eventually turn slightly east of north later today and pass just south and east of the southern tip of Baja California tonight into early Saturday morning.

By Saturday, prior to landfall into mainland Mexico, Sandra will have weakened to a tropical depression. The storm is expected to make a landfall somewhere near the Mexican state of Sinaloa on Saturday. Despite weakening, heavy rain will impact portions of Baja California and Mexico Friday through Saturday night.

For Saturday morning there won’t be much of a change for the morning, but we should start seeing some sporadic, NW swell energy start to filter in through the day.

* Tide will come into play again but there’s a chance to maybe get a few waves at first light.

Sunday morning looks to start out on the slow side but some fresh NW ground swell should start to sneak in the through the morning and slowly increase into the afternoon. Looks like waist to maybe chest high sets early and larger moving into the afternoon.

For Monday we should see another jump up in size for the best West facing breaks. We’ll see 16 second interval NW ground swell in the chest to shoulder high for the top beaches and that should continue to strengthen through the day.

Monday
2015-11-30 Mon 01:03 AM 3.99 feet High Tide
2015-11-30 Mon 05:43 AM 2.74 feet Low Tide

2015-11-30 Mon 07:00 PM 0.21 feet Low Tide
2015-11-30 Mon 09:47 PM Moonrise

The conditions look a little iffy, (winds are projected to have a quite a bit of North in them which could be problematic), but the models have been flip flopping lately, so lets just hope for the best. Models are calling for N/NNE winds at 3-8 MPH until noon and a mild 4-7 MPH in the afternoon. The air temp tops out at 65 degrees.

For Tuesdaymorning the top NW facing beaches should be in good shape with that 290-300 degree, 14-16 second interval swell hitting full stride and putting the top, deep water, West facing breaks into he shoulder to head high zone with larger OH sets.

Tuesday
2015-12-01 Tue 02:12 AM 4.02 feet High Tide
2015-12-01 Tue 06:41 AM Sunrise
2015-12-01 Tue 07:04 AM 2.91 feet Low Tide

2015-12-01 Tue 12:33 PM 4.43 feet High Tide
2015-12-01 Tue 04:44 PM Sunset
2015-12-01 Tue 07:57 PM 0.63 feet Low Tide
2015-12-01 Tue 10:42 PM Moonrise

The conditions look a bit questionable with N/NNE breezes in the 3-8 MPH range until noon, (too much North in direction is a sea surface killer so hopefully the Eastern influence will win the morning battle). We’ll see 6-8 MPH breezes out of the West in the afternoon. The air bumps up to 68 degrees.

The current water temps Newport 64 degrees, Huntington 63 degrees, the South Bay showed as 65 degrees, Santa Monica 64 degrees and Malibu 62 degrees.
