HURRICANE WATCH 10-21-13
Raymond remains a major Category 3 hurricane. Low wind shear and very warm water have helped strengthen Raymond from a tropical depression into a hurricane in less than 24 hours. Gusty rain bands are thrashing the southwestern Mexican coastline from Acapulco to near Aquila; the highest wind gusts observed have been close to 30 mph.
Raymond is nearly stationary, but will drift very slowly northward through Tuesday before taking a crucial turn away from the coast. A ridge of high pressure strengthening north of Raymond will be responsible for this change in course. As Raymond tracks westward later this week, it will gradually weaken, but will likely remain a hurricane through Thursday.

For Tuesday morning we will see a bump out of the NW from a steep 310 degree angle. Nothing to get real excited about, but the top West facing beaches should see waist to chest high plus sets at the best West facing breaks. The angle is a bit too steep, so only the better spots will see much action.
