HURRICANE WATCH October 7th, 2014 – Simon has weakened steadily today, and is now a tropical depression.
Rough surf and dangerous rip currents will continue to impact the western coast of Baja California into Southern California for the next day or so.

Elsewhere, across the eastern Pacific, tropical development is not expected for at least the next 48 hours.
______________________________________________________________________________

For Wednesday morning we’ll see smaller, inconsistent surf, out of SW in the waist high plus zone, and the super exposed South facing breaks will get the waist high plus crumbs from Hurricane Simon.

The monster high tide at 9:30 will undoubtedly kill the smaller sized surf, so crack it early and maybe get a few or wait until late, late morning or early afternoon.

By Thursday morning we’ll see inconsistent sets out of the SW and some small background NW energy. Waves will be in the waist high plus zone, but be sure to factor the high tide into the equation, (6.43 feet High Tide shortly after 10AM). Dawn patrollers will see a nice tidal push but things will get swampy as the tide fills in.
