SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED on 11-29-18
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

HURRICANE WATCH

There are no tropical cyclones over the East Pacific Basin at this time. However, we are monitoring one area for potential development over the next several days.

An elongated low pressure system is currently centered several hundred miles to the southwest of Acapulco, Mexico. The low is located in a zone of warm water and low shear and may develop into a tropical depression over the next few days. This feature will turn northeastward toward the Mexican coast during the next 24 hours.

For Friday morning it looks like we’ll be plagued by onshore winds again. The surf will continue to hammer the best West facing beaches with OH to DOH to maybe even TOH sets in the AM and that will very slowly taper off in the afternoon. The swell angle will be 290-300 degrees with 13-14 second intervals!

Once again… look for a wind protected area unless you’re an aerial specialist in search of onshore ramps!

Beware of the Urban Runoff – It is advised to stay out of the water for 72 hours following any measurable rain fall. It’s always a roll of the dice, especially after a major downpour. The threat of getting sick is very real, so if you do insist on taking the plunge be sure to use ear plugs and upon exiting the ocean rinse off in hot water, use some alcohol based ear drops, and a nasal netti pot rinse for good measure never hurt anybody.
