SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 9-24-13
______________________________________________________________________________

HURRICANE WATCH 9-24-13

There are no significant or imminent threats for tropical development across the entire eastern Pacific basin. The lack of tropical organization is due to no organized features across the basin at this time.

By Wednesday morning we should, (hopefully), see that steeply angled NW energy move in with 12-14 second intervals from a steep 305-315 degree angle. Only most exposed West facing breaks will get the meat of this energy. Best beaches will see chest to shoulder high plus sets.

For Thursday morning we’re looking to see some more, Winter like, conditions with offshore winds and the continuation/peak of that same NW ground swell. The top spots should go chest shoulder high with some occasional plus sets. Looks like some shorter interval, (8-10 second), wind swell energy will mix in as well, so all things considered, it will definitely be worth a look.

By Friday morning the NW energy will quickly begin to fade, and dip down another notch, into the waist to chest high zone. The tides will be in the 3 foot plus range throughout the peak morning surf hours, and the conditions look excellent. There just might be a little meat left on that bone!

High pressure moves in and our much sought after Santa Ana winds blow into town and heat up the coast.

Saturday morning, unfortunately, will be even weaker with waist high surf at the better spots, and with the tide on the high side early, I can already envision 100’s of people bobbing, elbow to elbow, 20 feet from shore… Golf anyone?
