SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 9-23-13
______________________________________________________________________________

HURRICANE WATCH 9-22-13

There are no organized features or low pressure areas across the East Pacific Basin at this time and we do not expect any tropical development across the basin in the next 48 hours.

Tuesday morning is looking rather weak, with knee to waist high surf for the West facing breaks. The good news is that a 14-16 second ground swell, from a Ridiculosly steep, 300-315 degree angle will start to show up on Wednesday into Thursday. It will be tough for most breaks to get a sniff of this one, (due to the severity of the angle), but if we focus on the big picture, it’s a good sign that the NPAC is getting active. We’re way overdue for a good winter and an onslaught of pumping surf!

By Wednesday morning we should, (hopefully), see that steeply angled NW move in with 12-14 second intervals from that steep 305-315 degree angle. Only most exposed West facing breaks will get the meat of this energy. Best beaches will see chest to shoulder high plus sets.

For Thursday morning we’re looking to see some more, Winter like, conditions with offshore winds and a continuation of that same NW ground swell. The top spots should go chest high with some occasional plus sets. Looks like some shorter interval energy will mix in, so all things considered, it will definitely be worth a look.
