HURRICANE WATCH: Marty is now a hurricane as it continues to drift toward the Mexican coastline in the eastern Pacific Ocean. Marty is located southwest of Acapulco, Mexico, and is tracking northward toward the southern Mexican coast. Marty is expected to maintain strength during the next 12 to 24 hours. Heavy rainfall will inundate southwest Mexico, especially across the Mexican states Guerrero west into Jalisco. Guerrero will be hardest hit, with widespread rainfall of 4-8 inches across the state with up to 20 inches possible in the mountains. Marty is not expected to make landfall and should instead turn away from the coast in the next couple of days and move back out to sea. Rough surf and rip currents will lash the Mexican coastline for the next few days.

Meanwhile, Niala is now a tropical depression well to the south of Hilo, Hawaii, and may lose tropical characteristics during the next 24 hours. The depression will enhance trade winds across Hawaii. Gusty winds and downpours will continue to impact the Big Island today before diminishing tonight.
