HURRICANE WATCH 9-5-13

T.D. 12E will continue to drift northwestward over the next several days through a zone of warm waters and relatively low wind shear. If it were to become a tropical storm, its name would be Lorena. The general motion of the storm should keep it offshore and roughly parallel to the west coast of Mexico today and tomorrow before it approaches the southern tip of Baja California later on Saturday. At this point, the system would be moving into cooler waters and would begin to weaken.

Winds to tropical storm force (35 mph or more) can be expected across the southern coast of the Baja Peninsula by Saturday. In addition, there will be rougher surf and higher waves along the west coast of Mexico and the southern tip of the Baja as well over the next several days.
