HURRICANE WATCH 9-4-13
A low pressure system with its cluster of showers and thunderstorms is located about 150 miles south-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico. This wave will continue to bring locally heavy rainfall to coastal Mexico through Thursday as it slowly strengthens. Favorable atmospheric conditions will likely lead to the formation of a tropical depression or storm in the next day or two.

Kind of weird today… as usual I checked the 9 band buoy as soon as I woke up… 3.3 with 4-6 second intervals, which usually equates to waist high plus wind peaks, but when I went down to the beach it was chest to shoulder high plus. Not sure how so much swell snuck in under the radar, but I’m glad I was there for it. I even checked all of the other sites to see if I had made a mistake on my forecast, but everyone had it pegged to be small. It just goes to show you that even with all of the technology we have at our disposal Mother Nature has a few tricks up her sleeve.

For Thursday morning I’ll have to stick to my guns and dismiss Wednesday as just an anomaly. Expect the surf to be smaller with less SW, but continued, small scale NW wind swell in the waist high plus zone.
