SURF FORECAST UPDATED 1-27-13
Our long stretch of good conditions came to a screeching halt today as onshore devil winds finally won the battle. Truth be told, I drove down the South Bay coast route around noon today, and although onshore, it still looked relatively doable. Not a bad run of surf lately, I’ll give Mother Nature a little breathing room after a game saving performance. Nicely done!
There is a risk of increased bacteria levels through a period of at least 72-hours following the end of any measurable rain event. Water contact should be avoided during this period, especially within 100 yards of drainpipes, ballon a creek, river mouths, and anything else ushering poison into the water.
On Monday morning we’ll see some junky surf in the shoulder to head high plus zone. There will be plenty of waves, but with the continued onshore flow, it probably won’t be pretty.

The conditions are leaning toward poor with all day West winds in the 8-16 MPH zone. We’ll see a high air temp of 61 degrees and it looks like we’ll put the rain in the rear view mirror for the time being.
Tuesday morning is up in the air right now, but if the winds adhere to the forecast we might see some fun little wind swell for the West facing breaks. Top spots should go chest high plus and like I said, if the winds go offshore late Monday night, (and the projections look good), it’ll definitely be worth a look.

The conditions look to recover, for the AM, with NNE/NE breezes in the 3-6 MPH range until around 11AM and 3-7 MPH West winds into the afternoon. We’ll see an air temp of 62 degrees.
On Wednesday morning the surf will dip into the waist high plus zone for the better West facing breaks. There’s a subtle tide push through the morning hours, but don’t bank on getting anything real interesting out there.

The conditions look fair with winds out of the NE/NNE, in the 3-4 MPH zone until 11AM and afternoon onshores clocking in at 8-10 MPH. We should see a slight spike in the air temp as it tops out at 66 degrees.
By Thursday morning the better West facing breaks should see surf in the chest high plus zone as some fresh longer interval swell moves in from a Westerly 280-290 degrees. Both tides and wind look to cooperate so it will definitely be worth a look.
