HURRICANE WATCH: Tropical Storm Ela is located about 585 miles to the east of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. Ela remains over marginally warm water in an area of moderate shear. Due to these unfavorable conditions, Ela is not expected to strengthen any further today and should start to weaken by tomorrow.

Elsewhere, an area of showers and thunderstorms south of southeastern Mexico should develop into an area of low pressure later this week and this weekend. Long-range computer information continues to show this system becoming an organized tropical system early next week a few hundred miles off the south coast of Mexico.
