I’ve been forecasting Sh$##ty waves for nearly 6 weeks, (and surfing those same gutless, feeble waves every day), and when the dam finally breaks open some kook on a longboard fractures one of my ribs and takes me out of the game for 4-6 weeks! As the old adage goes, “Life isn’t fair”! Anyway, that’ll be it for my whining and self pity for the time being!

I hope everyone gets their fill of surf while I remain on the “IR” list. Just make sure you’re not sending me the “You missed it” emails. I’ll be on the camera/vid duty for the next month so be sure to say cheese if you see me on the beach.

HURRICANE WATCH: *Tons of potential cyclonic activity out there but it’s all spinning out to the West toward Hawaii!

Hurricane Ignacio has weakened a little today and is now down to a Category 3 hurricane, with sustained winds of 100mph. Cool water ahead of Ignacio will cause Ignacio to weaken further today through tomorrow, eventually becoming a tropical storm by Wednesday.

Hurricane Jimena remain a Category 4 hurricane for at least the next 24 hours. However, Jimena will track west or west-northwest into cooler waters by the middle of next week leading to gradual weakening of the storm in the long range.

By Monday that SW energy will be on its way to the hospice with very inconsistent sets in the waist high range.

We’ll also see some small but potent long interval energy out of the NW. This will courtesy of Typhoon Asanti and dish up waist high plus sets, (for the best West facing breaks), with 16-18 second intervals from a 300 degree angle.

For Wednesday looks interesting with a combination of NW energy from 305-310 degrees and some 12 second + interval swell from Jimena from 195-200 degrees. If things play out according to projections the South facing breaks should go chest to shoulder high and the West facing breaks should be good for chest high peaks!
