HURRICANE WATCH: Tropical Depression Eight-E is located over 1,400 miles to the west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. The weak tropical cyclone is moving west-northwestward around 10-15 mph. This motion should continue through at least the next 24 hours.
Computer projections suggest Depression 8-E will move west-northwest for the next several days which will keep it well away from land. The system is moving towards drier and more stable air and as a result it will have a tough time intensifying.
We are also monitoring an area of low pressure southeast of Eight-E. This area of disturbed weather is currently around 1,200 miles south-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. This low pressure center will be moving through warm ocean waters and low wind shear over the next several days. Thus, this area of low pressure is likely to become a tropical depression and perhaps even a tropical storm within the next several days.
For Wednesday morning the SW energy will hold and serve up chest to shoulder high sets for the better South facing breaks, (with occasional larger sneaker sets early in the day).
It looks like we’ll also see continued, smallish, steeply angled, NW wind swell remain in the picture.
