SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 10-9-13
______________________________________________________________________________

The swell is definitely on the rise but unfortunately the SE morning winds failed to show up and we were left with sloppy West winds and a lumpy sea surface. The Harvest Buoy is clocking in at 9.2 feet with medium interval, (10-12 seconds), from a steep angle of 310 degrees. There’s also some SW energy in the mix for tomorrow so if the winds do indeed cooperate, (like it appears on paper) there should be something to ride most everywhere.

HURRICANE WATCH 10-9-13

Tropical Depression Narda remains in the open waters of the Pacific well over 1,000 miles to the west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. Narda continues to move westward away from Baja California and will not threaten any land masses. We expect Narda to be downgraded to a remnant low pressure area later today as wind shear will continue to cause Narda to weaken and eventually dissipate in a few days.

Thursday morninglooks a little more solid with chest high sets out of NW, and some fresh, SW energy creeping in late in the day. Not the preferred wave bonanza we’ve been waiting for, but at least things are getting more interesting!

The conditions should be okay for the morning, (at least they appear to be on paper).

Friday morning is shaping up to be okay with a combination of chest high, NW energy and a mix of 2, small, but punchy, long interval swells out of the SW, (195-200 degrees). With the mix of energy most spots should see waist to chest high surf and the exposed spots seeing larger and more consistent sets.

Saturday morning should be yet another fun day for waves with the NW and SW energy lingering for one more day. Once again, the top West and SW breaks will see surf in the waist to chest high range. I’ll update the forecast daily so check back often. Lots of variables out there right now!

______________________________________________________________________________

By Sunday morning all swells taper off quickly. The NW energy will dip down into the waist high range and the SW swells will dish up inconsistent waist high sets, (maybe a few larger stragglers).
